Chapter 8 - The Queen of the Underworld

The wedding was not a massive, public display of mafia pageantry. It was an intimate, breathtaking ceremony held right on the private rear lawns of the Moretti estate, surrounded by blooming white roses, sparkling fairy lights, and the people who truly mattered.

There were no corrupt underbosses, no hidden traitors, and no lurking threats. Only absolute peace.

Hannah walked down the floral-lined aisle in a breathtaking, classic ivory lace gown. Her soft blonde-brown hair was styled in cascading waves, and her face glowed with an ethereal, natural beauty. Leading the way as the flower girl, scattering pink rose petals across the white runner with furious concentration, was little Sophia—wearing a matching miniature ivory dress, running as fast as her healthy, strong legs could carry her.

Standing at the altar in a tailored black tuxedo, Luca watched his bride approach. The most feared man in Chicago felt tears prick the corners of his piercing eyes. He had survived bullets, betrayals, and the darkest nights of his soul, but standing right here, watching the woman who saved his child walk toward him, he knew he was the luckiest man alive.

When Hannah reached his side, Luca gently lifted her veil, leaning forward to press a tender, deeply emotional kiss to her forehead before taking her hands in his.

“You look breathtaking,” Luca whispered.

“You clean up pretty well yourself, Mr. Moretti,” Hannah smiled softly, her eyes shining with unshed tears of pure joy.

When the minister finally pronounced them husband and wife, the applause erupted into the warm evening air. Sophia squealed with delight, jumping up and down and shouting, “Mommy and Daddy are married!”

At the grand reception following the ceremony, the ballroom was filled with laughter, clinking champagne glasses, and music. Luca held Hannah tightly against his chest as they shared their first dance beneath the glittering chandeliers.

“Penny for your thoughts, Mr. Moretti?” Hannah murmured, resting her head against his shoulder.
