Chapter 20 - The Unbreakable Reign

One year later, the sprawling Moretti estate was bathed in the warm, golden light of a perfect summer afternoon.
The shadows of the Obsidian Syndicate were nothing more than a distant, faded memory. The criminal underworld of Chicago had been completely dismantled, replaced by a massive network of legitimate philanthropic foundations, hospitals, and youth centers. The Moretti name no longer struck fear into the hearts of the innocent; it inspired hope.
Inside the blooming white rose garden, the sounds of pure, unadulterated joy echoed through the air.
Sophia, now five years old, was running effortlessly across the manicured lawn, her bright golden-brown curls flying behind her. She was chasing a bright red soccer ball, giggling wildly as the massive black Cane Corso bounded happily beside her. She was strong, healthy, and completely free from the ghosts of her past.
Hannah sat on a soft picnic blanket spread across the grass, wearing a flowing blue summer dress. She was no longer just the brave waitress who had caught a falling child; she was the undisputed, brilliant Queen of an untouchable, legitimate empire. She watched Sophia play, a radiant, peaceful smile lighting up her beautiful face.
Luca walked out from the veranda, carrying a tray with two glasses of iced lemonade. The tall, heavily tattooed former mafia boss looked entirely at peace. The heavy, suffocating weight of violence and vengeance that had haunted his eyes for years was completely gone.
He set the tray down and sat beside Hannah on the blanket, wrapping his strong arm securely around her waist and pulling her close.
"She is getting faster every day," Luca chuckled, his deep, resonant voice filled with immense pride as he watched Sophia score a goal past the dog.
Hannah leaned her head against his broad shoulder, resting her hand gently over his.
"She has her father's unstoppable energy," Hannah smiled, turning her head to look up into his warm, loving gray eyes. "And she has her whole life ahead of her, safe in the light."
Luca pressed a tender, lingering kiss to the top of her head. He looked around his beautiful estate, feeling a profound sense of gratitude wash over his soul. He had survived betrayals, tactical wars, and the darkest nights of despair. But none of his victories compared to the absolute triumph of building this family.
The fortress they had built was no longer made of concrete and guns. It was made of unconditional love, fierce loyalty, and unyielding trust.
"We won, Hannah," Luca whispered softly, holding his wife against his chest as the summer breeze rustled through the oak trees. "The monsters are finally gone."
