Chapter 19 - The Sins of the Father

Luca kicked the mahogany doors open, stepping into the massive, dimly lit executive office.

Arthur Sterling sat comfortably behind a massive glass desk, completely unfazed by the sounds of gunfire and explosions tearing his empire apart outside. The tall, silver-haired mastermind wore an immaculate, expensive dark tailored suit. He slowly poured a glass of amber whiskey from a crystal decanter, offering a chilling, arrogant smile.

"I have to admit, Luca," Arthur said smoothly, taking a slow sip. "Your assault was quite impressive. You fight exactly like your father did. Brutal. Uncompromising. Completely driven by emotion."

Luca leveled his assault rifle directly at Arthur's chest, his finger resting heavily on the trigger.

"You ordered the hit on my family three years ago," Luca growled, his voice echoing in the large room. "You put my daughter in a wheelchair. You sent assassins after my wife."

Arthur laughed softly, leaning back in his leather chair. "I did. But you are missing the poetry of the situation, Luca. Thirty years ago, your father broke into my home. He shot my wife, stole my network, and forced me into hiding. I didn't attack your family out of simple greed, boy. I attacked your family to make you feel the exact same hollow, agonizing grief that I endured."

Luca didn't flinch. He didn't lower his weapon.

"My father was a monster," Luca stated coldly, taking one deliberate step forward. "He was a tyrant who destroyed everything he touched. But I am not my father. I rebuilt this empire to protect the innocent. You rebuilt yours just to murder a three-year-old child."

Arthur’s arrogant smile finally faded. He realized the psychological manipulation wasn't working. He reached slowly toward the top drawer of his glass desk.

"You think you won, Luca?" Arthur sneered, his hand hovering over a hidden red panic button. "If I press this button, the explosives rigged beneath this entire mountain will detonate. We all burn together. The Obsidian Syndicate will simply replace me tomorrow."

"They won't replace you," a clear, unwavering female voice rang out from the doorway.

Arthur froze. Luca turned his head slightly in surprise.

Hannah stepped out from the shadows of the hallway, flanked by two massive Moretti guards. She wore a dark tactical jacket, her eyes burning with an intense, unbreakable fire. She hadn't stayed in the bunker. She had followed her husband to ensure the nightmare ended permanently.

Hannah held up a sleek silver hard drive.

"While your men were fighting outside, my tech team bypassed your mainframe," Hannah said coldly, stepping into the room. "I just transferred every single offshore account, every blackmail file, and every ledger the Obsidian Syndicate owns directly to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Your empire didn't just fall, Arthur. It was erased."

Arthur’s face drained of all color. The untouchable mastermind realized he had been completely outplayed by the former waitress he had underestimated.

He let out a roar of desperate rage, pulling a hidden pistol from the drawer and aiming it directly at Hannah.

Before Arthur could pull the trigger, Luca fired twice.
