Chapter 28 - The Eternal Dawn

The storm passed, returning a brilliant, crystal-clear dawn to the city of Chicago. Luca returned to the estate just as the first rays of sunlight touched the marble steps. He walked into the luxurious master bedroom, stripping off his gunpowder-scented tactical gear, and saw Hannah lying there, holding their sleeping angel Sophia in the massive bed. Every burden, every dark shadow that had haunted him for years seemed to vanish completely as he watched the steady, peaceful breathing of the two women he loved most. Hannah stirred softly, opening her beautiful eyes to look at him. She smiled—that radiant, warm smile that had saved his soul on the night of that terrifying charity gala. "It’s finally over, isn't it?" she whispered. Luca smiled with profound relief, stepping to the edge of the bed. He leaned down to press a gentle kiss to Sophia's forehead, then softly kissed his wife's lips. "It really is over," he answered, his deep voice carrying absolute certainty. The kingdom of the Moretti family was now entirely cleansed of its enemies; no force remained that could ever threaten their priceless happiness.
