Chapter 15 - The Fall of Thorne

The mercenaries screamed, instantly blinded and deafened, staggering backward off the high catwalk and plunging twenty feet onto the concrete floor below.

Victoria shrieked, clutching her burning eyes, firing wildly into the dark. "Kill them! Kill them all!"

Before she could reorient her weapon, a shadow detached itself from the ceiling rafters above.

Nathaniel Vance dropped directly behind Victoria like a wrathful god.

With blinding speed, he grabbed Victoria's wrist, twisting it until bone popped. The revolver clattered harmlessly into the water chute. He threw Victoria violently against the shipping container, pinning her by the throat, his eyes filled with a lethal rage that terrified even the deranged heiress.

"You threatened my wife," Nathaniel snarled, his voice a guttural roar. "You threatened her family."

"Nathaniel—please!" Victoria gasped, clawing at his iron grip. "I loved you!"

"You never knew what love meant," Nathaniel hissed, discarding her like trash to the concrete floor, where Marcus immediately subdued her in titanium zip-ties.

Meanwhile, Rose didn't pause for a fraction of a second. The instant the flash-bang cleared, she sprinted toward the churning chute. Leo's rope, burned by a stray mercenary bullet, frayed and snapped.

"Leo!" Rose cried out.

Leo plunged into the freezing black river chute.

Without hesitating—without thinking of the freezing depths, the lethal currents, or the scars on her hands—Rose dove straight into the abyss after him.

"ROSE!" Nathaniel’s terrified scream ripped through the pier as he saw his wife leap into the roaring black water.
