Adrian wanted it demolished immediately.
Milo said no.
That surprised everyone.
“Why?”
Milo shrugged.
“Dog house bad because Sera.”
“Yes.”
“House not bad.”
Therapist smiled.
Adrian felt corrected.
They did not force decision.
Months later Milo asked for door removed.
Adrian unscrewed hinges.
The door came off.
The exterior latch went with it.
The structure remained open.
For a year birds nested near roof.
Then Milo said:
“Take away now.”
They did.
No ceremony.
No fire.
No smashing.
Landscaper hauled wood away.
A patch of grass grew where it stood.
Eventually Adrian stopped noticing exact spot.
