Chapter 13 - Seraphine’s Plea

Criminal prosecutors separated Seraphine’s conduct.

Child endangerment.

False statements.

Trust-related fraud.

Conspiracy where evidence supported it.

They did not charge kidnapping for every dramatic label people online demanded.

They did not claim she intended to kill anyone.

Evidence suggested she planned a short staged incident.

That was reckless enough.

Seraphine eventually entered a negotiated plea.

She admitted she deliberately placed both children in the doghouse to create evidence that Milo had taken Ava outside.

She admitted disabling cameras.

She admitted false billing certifications.

She admitted lying to Adrian afterward.

Her attorney emphasized:

No physical injury.

Immediate duration.

Her own belief environment was safe.

The judge replied:

“The absence of injury is fortunate. It is not proof of safety.”

Seraphine received a custodial sentence followed by probation, financial restitution, and family-court restrictions.

Not decades.

Not nothing.

Real consequences.

Adrian attended sentencing.

Milo did not.

Ava certainly did not.
