Chapter 15 - The $1.08 Million

The forensic accounting took nine months.
Total suspicious payments connected to Everline, Bright Harbor evaluations, inflated security and family-support contracts:
$1.08 million.
Not all stolen.
Roughly $690,000 identified as unsupported, inflated, or conflicted.
Recoveries came from:
Insurance.
Asset seizures.
Seraphine restitution.
Julian restitution.
Vendor settlements.
The trust did not immediately become whole.
Sarah refused Adrian’s offer to write personal check.
“Why?”
“Because the trust has claims against people who took money.”
“I can replace it.”
“And then you become another person using wealth to erase process.”
Adrian hated that.
She was right.
The trust eventually recovered most losses.
Adrian made a separate unrestricted contribution years later only after legal recovery ended and independent trustee approved.
Not to fix Seraphine’s debt.
To support Milo’s future.
