Chapter 41 - The Brother Behind the Darkness"DROP THE WEAPON! HANDS WHERE WE CAN SEE THEM!"

The federal agents' commands echoed through the shattered ballroom of Hudson Bluff.
Dominic Vale slowly raised both hands.
Across the marble floor, Julian Vance lay wounded, his expensive suit soaked with blood. Two federal medics rushed toward him while another team secured the fallen revolver.
But Claire barely noticed.
Her eyes remained fixed on the satellite phone in Dominic's hand.
Sister. Father was weak. The board is ours now. See you in Manhattan.
For thirty years, Claire had believed she was alone.
First, she had been the unwanted daughter in Arthur Thorne's mansion. Then she had discovered that Julian Vance was her biological father—a monster who had treated his own child as a financial instrument.
Now she had a twin brother.
A man raised to command the very organization she had nearly destroyed.
And Dominic had known.
"How long?" Claire whispered.
Dominic looked at her.
"Claire—"
"How long have you known I had a brother?"
His silence answered before his words did.
"Three years," he finally admitted.
Claire stumbled backward.
Three years.
Every dinner they had shared. Every whispered promise. Every moment he had held her while she mourned the family she never truly had.
He had carried this secret through all of it.
"You watched me cry over a family that never loved me," she said, her voice trembling. "And you knew there was someone out there who shared my blood."
"I thought telling you would get you both killed."
"That wasn't your decision to make."
An agent approached them.
"Ms. Vance, I'm Special Agent Naomi Reyes. We need you somewhere secure. The people behind that message may already be moving against you."
Claire turned toward the agent.
"Then tell your superiors I want full access to the evidence my mother left behind."
Dominic stepped forward.
"Claire, whoever your brother has become, he isn't the little boy your mother lost."
She looked at him with a coldness he had never witnessed before.
"And whoever you were when you met me, Dominic, I'm beginning to wonder whether I ever knew him."
The words struck harder than any bullet.
Dominic did not follow when Claire walked away with Reyes.
For the first time in his life, he let the woman he loved leave without trying to control what happened next.
Outside, snow drifted over the wreckage of Julian's empire.
Miles away, inside a private aircraft descending toward New York, a thirty-year-old man with silver-gray eyes studied Claire's photograph.
His name was Elias Vance.
Before him lay a dossier containing everything about his sister—her childhood, her financial victories, her love for Dominic, and the destruction of their father's American network.
A woman seated opposite him closed her laptop.
"Your orders, Commander?"
Elias touched the photograph.
For one brief instant, something almost human crossed his expression.
Then he closed the folder.
"Don't touch her yet."
"Why?"
May you like
He looked toward the lights of Manhattan.
"Because first, I want to hear why she left me behind."
