Chapter 19 - The Final Confession of the Shadow Master

The sub-level tactical interrogation bunker beneath Caruso Tower was cold, sterile, and entirely cut off from the outside world.
Viktor Rostova’s surviving assassin was strapped securely to a heavy steel chair, bleeding from his shoulder wound and glaring defiantly into the harsh overhead light.
Dominic stood before him with his arms crossed over his chest, his expression carved from impenetrable granite.
Beside him, Julian leaned against the concrete wall, clutching a fresh cup of black coffee while staring down the foreign mercenary.
"You failed," Dominic said coldly, his voice echoing off the concrete walls. "Viktor Rostova sent you to wipe out my family, and now you are sitting in a cage."
The mercenary let out a harsh, bitter laugh, spitting a streak of crimson onto the polished concrete floor.
"You think Viktor cares about a dead squad of operatives?" the man sneered, his eyes gleaming with malicious amusement.
"Viktor Rostova is already in Manhattan. He doesn't need mercenaries to dismantle your empire... he has your entire financial network by the throat."
Julian narrowed his eyes, stepping closer to the chair. "What are you talking about?"
"While you were busy playing bodyguard in the penthouse, Viktor's primary cyber-cell initiated a hostile hostile takeover of every offshore bank account tied to Caruso Shipping," the mercenary mocked.
"By morning, your company will be bankrupt, your assets seized, and your name dragged through every international court on earth."
Dominic didn't flinch. Instead, a cold, dangerous smile slowly spread across his face as he pulled a secure encrypted tablet from his pocket.
"You assume we didn't anticipate Viktor's digital playbook," Dominic said smoothly, tapping the screen to display a live tracking feed.
"The moment your squad breached our perimeter sensors, our automated defense protocols locked down every single offshore gateway."
"Furthermore, our digital forensics unit traced your encrypted communication ping straight back to Viktor’s private penthouse suite at the Plaza Hotel."
The mercenary’s defiant smile vanished instantly, replaced by a look of sheer disbelief as Dominic tapped his earpiece.

"Thomas, execute Protocol Omega," Dominic commanded calmly into the receiver.
"Federal marshals and our tactical strike teams are currently breaking through Viktor Rostova's hotel doors as we speak."
