Chapter 4 - The Fracture of the Dynasty

David didn't laugh. He didn't even yell. He simply walked forward with slow, mechanical strides, his fists clenched so tightly that his knuckles turned ghostly white.

David Harrison was the CEO of Harrison Global Industries, a multi-billion-dollar conglomerate. For years, he had tried to keep peace in his family, constantly forgiving Mason’s reckless entitlement, believing deep down that blood mattered most. But hearing his own brother mock his son, plotting behind his back to steal his inheritance while torturing a five-year-old child, shattered the last illusion of familial loyalty.

"A joke," David repeated softly, stopping inches away from Mason.

"David, don't be dramatic," Vanessa snapped, scrambling up from the rosebushes with a bruised chin and leaves tangled in her hair. "Your wife just assaulted me! Look at what she did to my face! You should be throwing them both out on the street!"

David finally turned his gaze toward his wife—no, toward the woman who had stood by smiling while his son was humiliated. He looked back at Rachel, who was still kneeling on the stone floor, shielding Ethan’s face against her chest, her eyes burning with an unyielding fire that commanded absolute respect.

"Rachel..." David started, his voice breaking as he reached out a trembling hand toward his wife and son.

"Don't touch us, David," Rachel said, her voice ice-cold. She stood up slowly, carrying Ethan securely in her arms. She looked at her husband not with anger, but with profound, irreversible disappointment. "You were too busy playing politics with your board members to notice what your family was doing to our child under your own roof."

"I didn't know, Rachel, I swear to God I didn't know—" David pleaded, taking a step toward her, but Rachel stepped back, creating an unbridgeable chasm between them.

"You never know," Rachel replied sharply. "Because you chose to look away. But today, the illusion is over."

Before David could answer, Mason let out a harsh, bitter laugh, wiping blood from his lip. "Oh, stop acting like such a martyr, Rachel! You’re nothing but a nobody from the suburbs who lucked into the Harrison family! Without David’s money, you're sleeping on a park bench! You think you can touch us? We own half the board seats! By tomorrow morning, David won't even have a company, and you’ll be begging on the streets!"

Mason’s arrogant declaration hung in the air, sealing his fate. Because Mason didn't realize that Leo, the videographer, had already uploaded the entire unedited file—including the audio confession—to a secure cloud drive linked to national media outlets and corporate oversight boards.
