Chapter 12 - The Dawn Of A New Era
The heavily armored and completely bulletproof black luxury SUV glided smoothly and highly quietly through the dark and completely deserted streets of the sleeping city,
surrounded completely and entirely by a massive and highly intimidating heavily armed escort of absolute and highly loyal syndicate enforcers.
I sat comfortably and highly securely in the incredibly plush and completely soft leather seats of the massive vehicle,
my exhausted and highly trembling body completely wrapped in a thick and incredibly warm thermal medical blanket.
Adrian sat incredibly closely and completely protectively right beside me,
his large and highly calloused hand tightly and completely securely holding my small and heavily trembling fingers in a highly comforting and completely unbreakable grip.
He had completely and highly strictly refused to let the highly trained and completely professional private syndicate doctors examine me without his highly imposing and completely terrifying presence in the very same room.
Only after the highly terrified and completely sweating medical professionals had completely and absolutely assured him that both I and the baby were completely and entirely physically unharmed,
did he finally and highly reluctantly allow himself to take a highly deep and completely shaky breath of absolute and highly profound relief.
"Where exactly and precisely are we going right now,
Adrian,"
I asked softly and highly tiredly,
my heavy and completely exhausted eyes looking blindly and highly confusedly out the dark and heavily tinted bulletproof windows of the massive moving fortress.
"We are going completely and entirely off the grid,
my sweet and highly precious love,"
he answered deeply and highly reassuringly,
his thumb gently and highly soothingly rubbing slow and highly comforting circles across the sensitive and completely pale skin of my soft hand.
"I have a highly secret and completely unknown private estate located deeply and highly securely in the thick and completely isolated woods outside the main city limits,
a massive and highly fortified sanctuary that absolutely no one in the entire highly treacherous and completely dangerous criminal underworld even slightly knows about,"
he explained carefully and highly thoroughly,
his highly brilliant and completely strategic mind constantly and rapidly calculating our absolute and highly guaranteed security.
The massive and highly intimidating convoy suddenly and completely smoothly turned off the main and highly illuminated highway,
entering a completely dark and highly hidden private access road that was heavily and completely surrounded by incredibly tall and highly ancient pine trees.
After driving continuously and highly cautiously for another highly tense and completely silent forty minutes,
we finally and completely arrived at a massive and highly imposing heavily reinforced iron gate.
The highly advanced and completely cutting-edge security systems instantly and completely seamlessly recognized our heavily armored vehicle,
and the massive and highly heavy iron gates swung smoothly and completely silently open to allow us absolute and highly secure entry.
The hidden and completely secret estate was absolutely and incredibly breathtaking,
a massive and highly gorgeous modern architectural masterpiece built completely and seamlessly into the side of a large and completely secluded mountain.
It looked incredibly and highly peaceful,
completely and entirely untouched by the highly violent and completely bloody chaos that we had just highly narrowly and completely miraculously escaped.
Marcus Hale immediately and highly efficiently began barking loud and completely strict tactical orders to the heavily armed and highly trained security teams,
ensuring that every single highly vulnerable and completely exposed access point was heavily and completely secured before we even slightly stepped out of the massive vehicle.
Adrian helped me carefully and highly gently out of the incredibly tall and completely heavily armored SUV,
supporting my heavy and completely exhausted weight completely and entirely with his incredibly massive and highly powerful body.
The incredibly crisp and completely fresh mountain air instantly and highly pleasantly filled my completely exhausted and heavily burning lungs,
smelling incredibly and highly wonderfully of deep pine and completely fresh rain instead of highly toxic smoke and completely terrifying violence.
"Welcome to our new and completely permanent home,
Claire,"
Adrian whispered softly and highly emotionally into my sensitive ear,
leading me slowly and highly carefully up the massive and completely pristine white marble steps of the incredibly beautiful and highly secure mansion.
I felt a sudden and highly unexpected tear of absolute and completely overwhelming joy slide slowly and highly warmly down my pale cheek.
