Chapter 45 - the invisible snare

The Aegis hackers greedily continued their digital assault, completely unaware they were being brilliantly outmaneuvered. As they bypassed Tessa's intentionally weakened secondary firewall, the rogue algorithm flooded into a trap.

It was a highly contained, isolated server mimicking the conglomerate's primary offshore bank accounts. The Council thought they had won the war. Instead, the trap snapped shut with devastating, catastrophic finality.

Tessa’s viral counter-code didn't just lock the Aegis virus out; it violently surged back through its own connection. It systematically overloaded and destroyed the incredibly expensive hardware of the Council's global network.

"We have their physical location, Tessa," Gabriel announced, his voice ringing with absolute, triumphant authority. "The central authentication server isn't in Rome. It is located in a heavily fortified, abandoned subterranean military bunker hidden deep in the snowy mountains of Switzerland."
