Chapter 14 - the hollow point

The standoff in the dimly lit study was absolutely paralyzing. Marco’s hand trembled violently, the laser sight of his pistol dancing erratically across Gabriel’s chest. "Put the gun down, Marco," Gabriel ordered, his voice remarkably calm but vibrating with lethal promise. "You are acting out of fear. The cartel will kill your daughter anyway. They leave no witnesses." Marco sobbed, completely broken by the impossible choice. "I have no other option!" he screamed, his finger tightening on the trigger. But Tessa refused to hide behind her uncle. She stepped out, her expression a perfect mask of cold, mafia discipline. "I have the routing numbers for El Fantasma's personal laundering accounts," Tessa stated clearly, holding up her tablet. "If you drop that weapon right now, I will drain his entire empire in sixty seconds. We can buy your daughter back. But if you pull that trigger, my uncle will put a hollow point through your skull before you even blink." The sheer, undeniable authority in Tessa’s voice mirrored Salvatore in his prime. Marco stared at the young woman, utterly stunned by her fearlessness. Slowly, the broken captain lowered his weapon, dropping it to the floor.
