Chapter 5 - Selina's Betrayal And The Interrogation Room

Inside the harsh,

fluorescent-lit interrogation room of the Chicago Police Department,

Selina Cole sat sobbing uncontrollably.

Her designer makeup was smeared across her cheeks,

and her silk robe had been replaced by an orange inmate jumpsuit.

The heavy metal door clicked open,

and Detective Miller stepped inside,

slamming a thick manila folder onto the steel table.

“Save the tears for the judge,

Ms.

Cole,

” Detective Miller said,

leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.

“We have the neighborhood security footage,

we have the medical scalpel with your fingerprints,

and we have Flynn Vance's full confession.

” Selina's sobbing stopped instantly,

her head snapping up as her eyes widened in absolute panic.

“Flynn confessed? He blamed everything on me?” “He told us how you planned the entire scheme,

how you forced him into a corner,

and how you manipulated him into stabbing his wife,

” Miller replied.

“He gave us every single text message,

every phone call,

and every detail of your little conspiracy.

” “That lying coward!” Selina shrieked,

slamming her cuffed hands onto the steel table.

“He promised me we would share the wealth,

he promised me he would leave Mabel and give me everything!” “He lied to save his own skin,

Detective,

I swear to you I was just a pawn in his abusive games!” “A pawn who brought a sterile medical scalpel to self-inflict a scratch and frame an innocent pregnant woman?” Miller mocked skeptically.

“That doesn't sound like a pawn,

Ms.

Cole,

that sounds like the mastermind of a premeditated murder plot.

” “If you want to save yourself from spending the rest of your life behind bars,

you need to give us more than excuses.

” “What else do you want?” Selina hissed,

her voice trembling with rage and desperation.

“We want the offshore accounts where Flynn stashed corporate embezzlement funds,

and we want every document proving your financial fraud,

” Miller demanded.

Selina hesitated for a split second,

weighing her options between loyalty to a man who betrayed her and her own freedom.

“Give me immunity from federal prosecution,

and I'll give you everything,

” Selina whispered venomously.

“Every offshore account,

every shell corporation,

and every dirty secret Flynn tried to hide from the SEC.

” Detective Miller smiled slowly,

sliding a cooperation agreement across the table.

“Sign on the dotted line,

Ms.

Cole,

May you like

and let's see how fast your beloved Flynn burns.
