Chapter 13 - Selina's Final Descent Into Obscurity

Miles away in a maximum-security state correctional facility,
Selina Cole was learning the brutal realities of life without privilege.
Accustomed to designer clothes,
pampered luxury,
and men waiting on her every whim,
she found herself scrubbing concrete floors.
Her cellmate,
a hardened career criminal named Brenda,
showed zero patience for Selina's constant whining and dramatic tears.
“Shut your mouth and keep scrubbing,
princess,
or I'll give you a real reason to cry,
” Brenda barked,
slamming her mop bucket down.
Selina flinched,
clutching her cleaning brush with trembling hands as humiliation burned hot tears down her cheeks.
She had thought her beauty and manipulation would always protect her,
that she could effortlessly climb the social ladder through men.
Instead,
her toxic ambition had stripped her of her freedom,
her youth,
and her dignity,
leaving her broken and discarded.
She remembered the day she walked up to Mabel Vance's porch with a self-inflicted scratch on her forearm.
How arrogant she had felt,
believing she was smarter than everyone else,
destined to rule the Vance empire by proxy.
Now,
sitting in the damp prison gloom,
she realized that single moment of malicious vanity had sealed her eternal doom.
“You deserve this,
Selina,
” she whispered to herself in the cracked mirror of the prison washroom.
“You engineered your own destruction.
” No one answered her,
no one comforted her,
and no one came to visit.
May you like
She was entirely alone,
forgotten by the world she had tried so desperately to conquer through deceit and betrayal.
