Chapter 13 - Shielding the Innocent

Richard's face contorted into an expression of absolute,
unfiltered rage.
He slammed his fist down onto the armrest of a wooden chair with a deafening thud.
Richard: Those ruthless,
cowardly bastards!
They think they can intimidate my family and threaten innocent elderly women!
He knelt down in front of Sarah,
grabbing her trembling hands in his own strong,
warm grip.
Richard: Look at me,
Sarah,
listen to every single word I am about to tell you.
You will not lie in that court,
and your mother will not be harmed by anyone.
I have more than enough resources to crush these thugs into dust.
Without wasting another second,
Richard pulled out his smart phone and made a series of urgent calls.
First,
he called his chief of private security,
a former elite military commander named Captain Vance.
Richard: Captain,
I need a heavy security team dispatched to Sarah's mother's address immediately.
Secure the building,
monitor every entrance,
and prepare an executive transport van.
We are moving her out of that district within the hour.
Next,
Richard called Arthur Pendelton,
his senior attorney,
and informed him of the witness intimidation attempt.
Within forty-five minutes,
two bulletproof black SUVs arrived at the old apartment building in the residential district.
Four heavily armed,
highly trained private security guards escorted Sarah's elderly mother,
Mrs. Jenkins,
safely out of her apartment.
They brought her along with her essential belongings directly to the Davis Manor.
Richard personally welcomed the sweet,
confused old woman into the mansion.
He assigned her a luxurious,
spacious guest suite on the ground floor,
complete with private medical care and round-the-clock guards.
Sarah fell to her knees in front of Richard,
overwhelmed by profound gratitude and relief.
Sarah: Thank you,
Mr. Davis,
thank you from the bottom of my heart!
I will never forget this noble act as long as I live!
Richard helped her up,
his eyes cold and determined as he stared out the tall window.
Richard: Do not thank me yet,
Sarah.
Now that your mother is safe under my roof,
it is time to catch the mastermind who ordered those thugs to threaten you.
