Chapter 19 - The Dawn of Pierce-Vance

Two weeks later, the morning sun broke over the New York harbor, casting a warm golden glow across the Manhattan skyline.
At the headquarters of Calloway-Pierce Global—now officially rebranded as Vance-Pierce Global—the massive trading floor was operating at full capacity.
The scandal that had threatened to tear the firm apart had done the exact opposite.
With the arrest of Arthur Calloway and the complete dismantling of the Sterling Consortium, Vance-Pierce Global had absorbed forty percent of the Consortium’s European logistics routes.
The stock had surged forty-two percent in ten trading days.
On the eightieth floor, the executive boardroom was flooded with natural light.
Grace sat at the head of the mahogany conference table, dressed in an immaculate white tailored suit.
Beside her sat a custom white crib where baby Victoria lay, kicking her little feet and smiling at the mobile spinning above her.
Declan sat to Grace’s right, reviewing the final restructuring prospectus.
"The merger of Vance Maritime and Pierce Logistics is one hundred percent finalized," Declan announced to the assembled board members.
"Grace Vance holds fifty-one percent of the voting shares."
"Pierce Global holds forty-nine percent."
"The Vance family name is once again sovereign over American commercial shipping."
The board members erupted into enthusiastic applause.
These were the same men and women who had watched Julian Calloway parade his arrogance through these halls just two months ago.
Now, they looked at Grace with absolute respect and undisguised awe.
She was not a figurehead.
She was the architect of their greatest triumph.
"Thank you, ladies and gentlemen," Grace said, raising her hand.
The room fell silent instantly.
"We have weathered a storm that was designed to destroy us from the inside out."
"We learned that an empire built on deception will always collapse under the weight of its own lies."
"Moving forward, this company will prioritize transparency, loyalty, and the protection of the families who make our operations possible."
She looked down at Victoria, who let out a happy gurgle.
"The meeting is adjourned."
The board members stood, bowing respectfully to Grace and Declan as they filed out of the boardroom.
Soon, only Grace, Declan, and Victoria remained in the vast, sunlit room.
Declan closed his leather binder and leaned back in his chair, watching Grace gently lift Victoria from the crib.
"You are a natural sovereign, Grace," Declan said, a genuine smile softening his sharp features.
"I learned from the best," Grace replied, cradling Victoria against her shoulder.
"You taught me how to strike where it hurts most."
Declan stood up, walking around the table until he was standing beside her.
He looked down at Victoria, reaching out to let the infant wrap her tiny hand around his index finger.
Victoria gripped his finger tightly, cooing softly.
"She has your strength," Declan whispered.
"And she has your protection," Grace said, meeting his gray eyes.
There was an electric silence between them—a tension that had been building since the moment Declan first stepped into her life to help her tear down Julian’s empire.
It was no longer just a strategic partnership.
It was something deeper, something forged in survival, mutual respect, and undeniable attraction.
Declan took a half-step closer.
His hand gently brushed a stray lock of hair from Grace’s forehead.
Grace did not pull away.
Her heart beat rapidly against her ribs, not from fear, but from the sudden, powerful realization that she was ready to feel alive again.
"Grace," Declan began, his voice unusually low, filled with rare vulnerability.
"When this began, I promised I would help you reclaim what was stolen from you."
"You did," Grace said softly.
"Now that the battle is won... I want you to know that I don't want to step back into the background."
"I don't want our lives to go back to being separate."
Grace looked at the man who had stood between her daughter and a hail of gunfire on a dark parkway.
"Neither do I, Declan," she admitted, her voice trembling slightly.
Before Declan could speak another word, the heavy double doors of the boardroom were thrown open with a violent crash.
Marcus Vance stumbled into the room, his white shirt torn at the collar, blood dripping from a gash on his temple.
Declan spun around, his instincts instantly flaring into lethal defense.
"Marcus! What happened?"
Marcus leaned against the doorframe, struggling for breath, his eyes wild with terror.
"Declan... it wasn't Arthur."
Declan frowned, taking a protective step in front of Grace and the baby.
"What are you talking about? Arthur is in a Swiss federal holding cell."
Marcus swallowed hard, coughing blood onto the marble floor.
"Arthur was the decoy, sir."
"The Swiss transport convoy carrying Arthur to Regensdorf prison was ambushed twenty minutes ago."
"Arthur is dead."
May you like
"And the people who took him... they didn't come for the money."
"They’re already inside the building."
