Chapter 17 - Shadows Across the Ocean

Three weeks later,

reports of suspicious stock acquisitions in our London subsidiary surfaced.

I sat in the midnight briefing room,

watching digital trading graphs flash across the screen,

tracking an anonymous capital firm buying up shares in micro-batches.

Arthur Vance tapped the glass monitor,

pointing to a secure IP address traced to Zurich.

"This carries the exact operational signature of Apex Capital,"

Arthur noted,

his brow furrowed.

"Julian Cross may be in prison,"

"but his offshore syndicate is still trying to choke our liquidity."

"They are trying to trigger a panic sale before our London launch,"

I analyzed smoothly,

leaning back in my chair.

Suddenly,

my private phone buzzed on the conference table.

It was an encrypted voice message sent from an unknown number in Indiana.

I pressed play.

"Emily,"

Daniel’s quiet,

humbled voice filled the quiet room.

"I overheard the logistics drivers at the warehouse talking about deliberate shipping delays targeted at the European shipment."

"Marcus Croft’s old contacts are trying to sabotage the inventory arrival."

I listened carefully,

noticing the genuine sincerity and lack of expectation in his tone.

"Thank you,

Daniel,"

May you like

I whispered to the silent recording,

appreciating the final act of true redemption.
