Chapter 15 - The Eternal Guardian

Midnight at the Whitaker estate was quiet,

serene,

and profoundly secure.

The perimeter sensors remained silent,

the tactical patrols moved with ghost-like precision through the pine trees,

and inside the mansion,

the children slept peacefully in their rooms,

untroubled by any ghosts of the past.

I stood alone on the grand stone balcony,

looking out over the moonlit gardens and the sprawling lawns that stretched toward the estate gates.

The distant threat from Boston had been neutralized before it even crossed state lines—a swift,

silent reminder to the underworld that the Whitaker empire tolerated no challengers.

Grace stepped quietly onto the balcony,

holding a warm woolen blanket and draping it gently over my shoulders.

“Still awake,

Mr.

Whitaker?

” she asked softly.

“Just making sure the gates are secure,

” I replied,

turning to look at her with deep appreciation in my eyes.

“You always do,

sir,

” Grace smiled gently.

“You built an empire to protect yourself from the world,

but you built a home to protect your children from the darkness.

” “And you helped me keep it standing when I almost lost everything,

” I added sincerely.

“I’m not going anywhere,

Boss,

” Grace affirmed,

her gaze steady and unwavering.

“Neither am I,

” I whispered,

looking back toward the glowing nursery lights where Sophie and Caleb slept soundly under the protection of a father who would tear the world apart before letting any harm touch them again.

The story of the gardener in the faded denim shirt was finished.

The legend of the Whitaker patriarch was eternal.

And the family,

May you like

at long last,

was safe.
