Victor lunged desperately for a hidden holster under his arm, his fingers clawing for the steel grip of his pistol, but Dante was infinitely faster.

A single gunshot rang out across the Evanston lakefront, sharp and definitive, echoing off the icy cliffs before fading into the night.

Victor Fiori staggered backward, clutching his shoulder before collapsing heavily onto the frozen marble tiles, his eyes wide with unexpressed terror as life rapidly drained from his body.

Dante looked down at his fallen enemy without a shred of satisfaction, only the cold, heavy burden of a debt finally paid in full.

He turned around and walked back toward the lead SUV where little Lily sat in the warm back seat, fast asleep with her head resting against Carmine’s massive shoulder, clutching a small silver watch that Arthur had left behind for her.

Carmine looked up as Dante opened the door, raising an eyebrow in silent question.

“It’s done,” Dante said quietly, sliding into the leather seat beside the sleeping child and pulling the heavy woolen blanket higher over her shoulders.

“Where to now, Boss?” Carmine asked, putting the armored vehicle into drive as the convoy turned its headlights back toward the city of Chicago.

“Back to Taylor Street,” Dante replied, watching the soft rise and fall of the little girl's chest as she dreamed of a world without cold sidewalks or broken promises.

The car melted into the Chicago night, leaving behind the ashes of an empire built on betrayal and establishing a new legacy forged in honor, protection, and unyielding justice.
