Chapter 12 - The Poisoned Promotion And The Missing Medical Files

The bright,

cheerful,

warm morning sun streamed beautifully,

gloriously through the large,

spotless,

glass windows of the newly opened,

state-of-the-art hospital trauma unit.

Emily was incredibly busy,

highly focused,

totally immersed in her demanding,

exhausting,

vitally important new role as the Head Charge Nurse.

She felt a massive,

overwhelming,

profound sense of personal pride,

knowing that she had survived a terrible,

horrific,

abusive past to reach this amazing,

wonderful,

successful point in her life.

She walked quickly,

confidently,

purposefully down the pristine,

white,

highly polished corridor,

greeting her dedicated,

hardworking,

exhausted staff with a bright,

genuine,

encouraging smile.

However,

a strange,

unsettling,

deeply disturbing feeling had slowly,

quietly begun creeping into her subconscious,

intuitive mind over the past few,

highly stressful days.

Tiny,

seemingly insignificant,

highly unusual mistakes were suddenly,

mysteriously happening in her perfectly organized,

strictly managed,

flawless department.

Critical,

highly sensitive,

confidential patient medical records were suddenly,

inexplicably disappearing from the secure,

encrypted,

password-protected hospital database.

Important,

expensive,

life-saving medications were inexplicably,

suspiciously missing from the heavily guarded,

strictly inventoried,

locked pharmacy cabinets.

Emily stopped abruptly,

frustrated,

confused,

standing in front of the main,

central nursing station,

staring blankly,

worriedly at the glowing,

bright computer monitor.

"This is completely,

absolutely impossible,"

she muttered quietly,

anxiously,

her heart beating slightly,

nervously faster in her chest.

"I personally,

carefully,

meticulously updated the narcotic inventory log last night,

and now three entire,

full boxes of highly potent painkillers are simply,

magically gone."

A young,

inexperienced,

highly nervous junior nurse named Sarah approached slowly,

hesitantly,

fearfully from the busy,

crowded hallway.

"Emily,"

Sarah whispered softly,

anxiously,

holding a thick,

heavy,

yellow envelope in her trembling,

shaking hands.

"The hospital executive administration board just sent this highly urgent,

completely unexpected,

formal notice down for you to read immediately."

Emily took the heavy,

ominous,

terrifying envelope,

tearing it open quickly,

frantically,

desperately scanning the harsh,

cold,

typewritten words on the crisp,

white paper.

Her beautiful,

hopeful,

happy face instantly,

violently drained of all its warm,

natural color,

leaving her looking incredibly pale,

sickly,

and totally devastated.

The formal,

official letter stated clearly,

harshly,

unapologetically that anonymous,

highly detailed,

incredibly damaging complaints had been formally filed against her.

The malicious,

fake,

fabricated complaints accused her directly,

aggressively of severe,

gross medical negligence,

intentional,

calculated theft of dangerous narcotics,

and total,

complete incompetence in her new managerial role.

"They are officially,

formally suspending me,

pending a full,

comprehensive,

internal hospital investigation,"

Emily choked out,

tears of absolute,

pure,

unadulterated frustration rapidly,

violently welling up in her large,

beautiful eyes.

She had fought incredibly,

desperately hard to rebuild her shattered,

broken,

stolen life,

and now,

some unknown,

invisible,

malicious enemy was actively,

ruthlessly trying to rip it all away again.

She immediately,

instinctively reached into her deep,

scrub pocket,

pulling out her cell phone quickly,

frantically dialing the one,

single,

reliable person who could always,

unfailingly fix her broken world.

"Mom,"

Emily sobbed loudly,

openly,

uncontrollably into the small,

electronic receiver,

retreating quickly,

embarrassedly into a dark,

empty,

quiet supply closet to hide her absolute devastation.

"Someone is actively,

intentionally,

maliciously framing me at the hospital,

and they are trying to completely,

May you like

permanently destroy my entire,

hard-earned career."
