Chapter 30

The return journey to the estate was a heavily guarded procession. The armored SUVs tore through the city streets, entirely unchallenged. The Hayes empire had demonstrated its absolute, terrifying supremacy.

When the convoy finally passed through the heavy iron gates of the estate, the sun was just beginning to rise, casting a brilliant, cinematic light over the pristine marble facade. The magnificent estate had survived the night, remaining a heavily fortified, impregnable sanctuary of peace.

Alexander stepped out of the vehicle, bypassing the exhausted security operatives. He walked into the grand atrium, shedding his heavy tactical vest, leaving only his unbuttoned white shirt and dark trousers. He bypassed his study, heading directly up the sweeping marble staircase toward the secure family wing.

He reached the heavy oak doors of the master suite. Anna was sitting on the plush velvet sofa, holding a sleeping Emily securely against her chest. She looked up, her beautiful, softly heart-shaped face reflecting a sudden, intense relief at seeing him unharmed.

"The borders are secure," Alexander stated, stepping into the room. He walked over to the sofa, his cold, intimidating eyes softening completely.

"You protected us, Alexander," Anna murmured, resting her hand on his tattooed knuckles.

"I will always protect you," Alexander whispered, kissing her forehead. The monsters were permanently locked outside the gates, the empire was invincible, and his bloodline was finally, eternally safe.
