Chapter 9 - The Syndicate's Cold Justice and the Final Ride into the Absolute Dark

The severe punishment of Richard Hale was executed with flawless and terrifying precision,

a bloodless but completely devastating process that destroyed the corrupt executive entirely.

The silent and massive bodyguards stepped forward in the main lobby,

their imposing frames casting long and terrifying shadows across the polished marble floor,

as they forcefully escorted the weeping Richard out of the building forever.

He was absolutely not going to be killed or physically harmed in any way,

because Ethan firmly believed that simple death was far too easy a punishment for a man who betrayed the powerful Moretti syndicate.

Instead,

Richard would be systematically and brutally stripped of every single dollar he had ever earned,

his pristine corporate reputation would be ruined completely in the unforgiving public eye,

and he would be forced to disappear forever into absolute and grinding poverty.

I stood safely behind the thick security glass of the main lobby,

watching as Richard was shoved roughly into the back of a waiting black vehicle,

his expensive suit wrinkled and ruined,

his arrogant pride completely and permanently shattered.

Ethan stood silently right beside me,

his hands casually tucked into the deep pockets of his tailored trousers,

watching the total destruction of his enemy with a cold and completely emotionless expression.

"He will absolutely never work in finance ever again,

anywhere in the entire world,"

Ethan murmured quietly,

his deep voice rumbling softly in the quiet and empty lobby.

"My organization has completely frozen his legitimate bank accounts,

seized his massive suburban mansion,

and anonymously leaked the undeniable proof of his corporate fraud to the federal authorities."

I shivered slightly despite the warm temperature of the building,

completely terrified by the immense and far reaching power this quiet man effortlessly wielded.

"You completely destroyed his entire existence in less than three hours,"

I observed nervously,

unable to tear my eyes away from the departing black vehicle.

"He destroyed his own existence the very second he decided to steal from my family,"

Ethan corrected me gently,

turning his head to look deeply into my anxious eyes.

"In my dark and complicated world,

Claire,

absolute loyalty is the only currency that actually matters,

and severe betrayal is the only unforgivable debt."

He gently offered me his arm,

a highly polite and old fashioned gesture that contrasted sharply with his ruthless mafia persona,

and led me slowly back toward the private executive elevators.

"Now that the trash has been properly permanently removed from the premises,

it is finally time for you to see your brand new office,"

May you like

he said with a small smile,

completely ignoring the massive chaos he had just effortlessly orchestrated.
