Chapter 18 - The Fall of the Patriarch

Marcus kicked the door open with concussive force, shouting federal law enforcement commands into the room.

Edward’s private guards reached for their weapons, but Caleb and Marcus incapacitated them before a single shot could be fired.

Edward turned around, his face morphing from arrogant cruelty to sheer, unadulterated disbelief.

He looked at me, standing in the doorway with Marcus’s tactical team securing every exit.

"Nora," Edward hissed, his hands tightening around the tablet. "You have trespassed on private property; my lawyers will dismantle you."

I stepped into the room, my boots clicking firmly against the polished tile floor.

I held up my phone, which was live-streaming the entire room directly to the federal prosecutor’s office and three major national news networks.

Every word of his confession regarding the weapons syndicate, his attempt on Julian’s life, and his scheme to steal my children was recorded.

Outside the mansion, the night sky was torn apart by the flashing red and blue lights of over thirty federal vehicles.

Sirens wailed in a deafening chorus as FBI tactical units surrounded the estate, breaching the front gates en masse.

Julian stared up at me from the hospital bed, his eyes wild with terror, shame, and agony.

He reached out a trembling hand toward me, whispering my name, begging his discarded wife to save him from his father.

I looked down at Julian without an ounce of warmth, pity, or hesitation.

I told him that the woman who loved him died on the silk rug of our penthouse nine months ago.

I was here only to bury the legacy that had tried to extinguish my children.

Federal agents stormed the pavilion, disarming Edward Vance and forcing the billionaire patriarch to his knees.

The handcuffs clicked loudly around Edward’s wrists, stripping him of sixty years of untouchable tyranny in a single second.

Julian’s monitors began to beep erratically as federal paramedics stepped forward to take custody of his medical care under federal arrest.

Both father and son were led away in separate directions, bound for maximum-security federal facilities where no wealth could buy their freedom.

As Edward was dragged past me, he glared at me with pure venom, swearing that the Vance bloodline would never let me rest.

I looked him straight in his cold eyes and told him that his bloodline was dead, and mine was just beginning.
