Chapter 16

She was no longer wearing the black and white uniform of a housemaid. Elodie wore an elegant, sophisticated day dress in a soft shade of blue, entirely shedding the stigma of a servant. She radiated a quiet, beautiful strength, perfectly balancing the dark, violent reality of the man sitting beside her.

"The eastern syndicate is completely liquidated, Boss," Marcus reported, stepping into the bright, airy dining hall. His American accent was crisp and professional. "Camilla's father was neutralized attempting to flee the country. The remaining lieutenants have pledged absolute loyalty to you."

"Excellent," Soren murmured, taking a slow sip of his coffee. "Ensure the operational bonuses are distributed to the men. Loyalty must be rewarded."

Marcus nodded respectfully and exited the room, leaving the family alone in the luminous space.

"It seems you have conquered the world, Soren," Elodie smiled warmly, resting her hand lightly on his arm.

"I only conquered the world... so that I could guarantee the safety of this room," Soren replied softly, turning his head to look at her. His cold eyes were incredibly warm and deeply devoted.

He reached into the inner pocket of his tailored suit jacket and withdrew a small, velvet box.

Elodie’s breath caught in her throat as he set the box on the pristine white tablecloth. He opened it, revealing a stunning, flawless diamond ring. It was elegant and understated, completely unlike the ostentatious, massive rock Camilla had worn.

"Will you wear my name, Elodie?" Soren asked, his deep voice a low, vibrating promise of absolute protection. "Will you rule this empire with me?"

Elodie looked from the ring to the man who had burned down a dynasty to protect her and his children. "Yes, Soren," she whispered, tears of pure joy filling her eyes. "Yes."
