Chapter 8 - The Weight of Silence

Back in the real world, life slowly began to resume its normal rhythm for the family.
The media storm surrounding the trial eventually faded into the background of celebrity gossip.
Yet, inside the house, the psychological scars remained etched into the walls.
Eleanor spent hours sitting by the large bay window in the living room, simply watching the sunlight filter through the trees.
The simple act of breathing fresh air was something she no longer took for granted.
Arthur was constantly by her side, a silent pillar of unwavering support.
He blamed himself for missing the signs, for being so easily blinded by ambition and grief.
One evening, as the shadows lengthened across the hardwood floor, Lily crawled into Arthur’s lap.
She rested her small head against his chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart.
"Daddy?" Lily whispered, her voice barely audible.
"Yes, my sweet girl?" Arthur replied, kissing the top of her head.
"Are the bad ladies gone forever?"
Arthur held her a little tighter, staring out toward the hallway where Eleanor was walking past.

"Yes, sweetheart," Arthur murmured, his voice thick with emotion.
"They're gone. And nothing like that will ever happen to us again."
