Chapter 6 - The Eviction Notice at the Mansion

By Thursday morning,

the media had caught wind of the scandal.

Headlines flashed across every news channel and social media feed.

Corporate Fraud,

Betrayal at the Funeral,

The Fall of Daniel Mercer.

Vanessa sat locked inside the lavish waterfront mansion

Daniel had rented for her.

Refusing to open the door for reporters

who swarmed the front gates.

Suddenly,

heavy knocking echoed through the foyer.

She rushed to the window.

Seeing three moving trucks parked outside.

Along with two county sheriffs.

She flung the front door open.

What is the meaning of this?

she shrieked at the deputies.

A bailiff stepped forward,

holding a legal writ.

Eviction notice,

ma'am.

Ordered by the primary estate trustee.

All property within this residence

belongs to the Claire Mercer Trust.

You have thirty minutes

to gather your personal belongings

and vacate the premises.

You can't do this!

Vanessa screamed,

her face twisting in rage.

I have rights!

Your lease was paid with embezzled corporate funds,

the bailiff replied coldly.

The lease is void.

Start packing.

Within twenty minutes,

Vanessa was dragged out onto the public sidewalk.

Clutching two designer handbags.

While flashbulbs from paparazzi blinded her.

Her high society dream
