Chapter 6 - The Festival of LightIn late September 2026, the grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in New York was packed to absolute capacity for the inaugural Lena Whitmore Memorial Triplets Gala.

Over five hundred prominent business leaders, supreme court justices, medical directors, and high-society figures gathered beneath sparkling crystal chandeliers.
Standing at the main presentation podium, wearing an magnificent charcoal bespoke tuxedo, was Brett Calder. My broad six-foot-two frame was squared, my face glowing with deep, genuine pride.
Beside me stood five-year-old Valerie, Vera, and Violet, wearing matching emerald silk party dresses, looking like three tiny princesses, while Marnie stood at my side in an elegant navy evening gown.
I adjusted the microphone, my deep, resonant baritone echoing cleanly through the high-fidelity speakers:
"Six months ago, I was a father who believed he had lost two of his greatest blessings," I announced to the silent room, my eyes shining with deep, genuine emotion as I looked at my daughters. "And then my brave daughter Valerie looked out a car window in a storm... and brought her sisters home."
I held my champagne glass high under the glittering lights.

"To my three little stars, Valerie, Vera, and Violet... and to the memory of their mother, Lena!"
"To the Calder family!" the entire room erupted into a warm, unanimous standing ovation, five hundred crystal glasses clinking together under the open sky.
