Chapter 5 - The Reconstruction of the Triplets' WorldOver the next six months, the lives of Valerie, Vera, and Violet bloomed like sunflowers in spring.

Under the care of top pediatric specialists, Vera and Violet fully recovered their weight, strength, and health. Vera’s fierce protective nature softened into a bright, confident leadership, while Violet’s quiet sweetness filled our home with endless drawings of stars, planets, and happy families.

All three girls attended the same prestigious kindergarten academy on the Upper East Side. Every morning, they walked into the school courtyard wearing matching navy uniforms, holding hands in an unbroken line of three.

I bought a sweeping historic estate in Lake Forest, New York—a house featuring a massive garden, a custom three-story playhouse, and a sunlit kitchen where three little girls could help make pancakes every Saturday morning.

Marnie moved into the guest house on the estate, serving as a loving aunt and co-director of our foundation.

"Look, Daddy!" Vera shouted one afternoon, running across the manicured green lawn holding a golden retriever puppy we had adopted. "Goldie likes my birthmark!"

Valerie and Violet ran right behind her, giggling happily, throwing their small arms around my legs as I knelt on the grass.

I pulled all three of my daughters into my broad arms, kissing their soft foreheads, tears of pure, weightless joy streaming down my face.
