Chapter 13 - tracing the evidence

To defeat a powerful federal senator, Nola needed undeniable physical evidence. Remote hacking could not completely help them, because Vance was an old-generation politician. He kept his dirtiest secrets locked in a physical, guarded safe.
Nola utilized the deep intelligence network Ruth had quietly cultivated decades ago. It took forty-eight agonizing hours to discover that Vance frequently visited an isolated, off-the-grid villa located deep in the dense woods.
"He hides his financial ledgers and extortion recordings there," her security chief analyzed, pointing to the satellite map projected on the large screen. "But this villa uses a closed-circuit security system. It cannot be hacked remotely. We must break in directly."
Nola stared at the screen. Breaking into a senator's fortified house carried massive risks. If caught, her philanthropic empire would collapse instantly, and she would face decades in prison.
