Chapter 18
A year later, the Ashbourne estate was transformed for a massive, cinematic celebration. The bright, luminous light poured through the crystal chandeliers of the grand dining hall, but this time, the atmosphere was filled with genuine, unadulterated joy. There was no suffocating tension, no poisonous fiancées, and no hidden abuses.
It was a lavish gala to celebrate the unparalleled prosperity of the newly consolidated national syndicate, but more importantly, it was a celebration of the family Kieran had fought so ruthlessly to protect.
Kieran stood at the head of the long walnut table, dressed in a flawless, tailored tuxedo. His movie-star handsome face was relaxed, a rare, genuine smile touching his lips. He looked across the room to where Annie was standing.
Annie looked breathtakingly beautiful in a sweeping, elegant evening gown, her fair, rosy skin glowing flawlessly under the bright lights. She was no longer a servant; she was the undisputed, respected queen of the empire, fiercely protected and deeply loved by the most dangerous man in the country.
Seven-year-old Flora was running happily through the crowd of loyal, respectful capos, wearing a beautiful princess dress. She ran up to Annie, grabbing her hand and laughing brightly.
Kieran watched them, his heart swelling with a profound, unshakeable peace. He had stared into the darkest abyss of his world, uncovered the horrific betrayal within his own home, and burned everything to ashes to secure this exact moment.
He raised his crystal glass of champagne. The entire ballroom fell silent, turning their attention to the Boss.

"To loyalty," Kieran said softly, his deep voice carrying effortlessly across the bright, elegant room. "And to the family that makes the fight worthwhile."
He met Annie's eyes across the room, the bond between them forged in absolute fire and sealed with an eternal promise. The empire was invincible, the monsters were permanently locked outside the gates, and the Ashbourne family was finally, permanently safe.
