Chapter 13 - The Blueprint of Vengeance

The war council was held at midnight,
the massive mahogany dining table cleared of its usual fine china,
replaced by sprawling blueprints of the city,
satellite photographs of enemy compounds,
and encrypted laptops displaying live surveillance feeds.
My father sat at the head of the table,
his presence dominating the room,
his cold,
calculating mind analyzing every possible angle of attack,
ready to strike back at the Romano family for daring to touch his bloodline.
Asher stood to his right,
his sleeves rolled up,
his eyes scanning the maps,
pointing out weak points in the enemy's supply lines,
eager to unleash the full,
devastating power of the Cavanaugh empire.
Silas sat in the corner,
his fingers flying across a glowing keyboard,
hacking into the Romano family's financial accounts,
draining their shell companies of untraceable funds to cripple their operations.
Eleanor stood near the windows,
half-hidden in the shadows,
observing the chaos with a calm,
predatory stillness,
waiting for the perfect moment to interject.
"Donatello is fortifying his main club downtown,"
Julian announced,
tracing a finger over the architectural layout of the luxurious nightclub known as The Obsidian,
"He has fifty armed men inside,
reinforced doors,
and a private vault where he runs his operations."
"We hit it with a heavily armed strike team,"
Asher suggested aggressively,
his voice rough with the desire for immediate,
bloody vengeance,
"We kick down the front doors,
we eliminate the guards,
and we drag Donatello out into the street."
"A frontal assault will result in massive casualties,"
Eleanor spoke up,
her voice smooth and unhurried,
drawing every eye in the room toward the shadows.
She stepped into the light,
walking up to the table,
her dark eyes scanning the blueprints of the nightclub with surgical precision.
"The Obsidian is a fortress,
yes,"
Eleanor agreed,
tapping a specific point on the map,
"But fortresses are designed to keep enemies out,
they are rarely designed to protect against threats already inside the walls."
Julian leaned back in his heavy chair,
steepling his fingers,
a dangerous spark of interest flashing in his cold eyes.
"Explain,"
my father commanded,
willing to listen to the deadly phantom he had brought into our home.
"Donatello is hosting his annual charity gala tomorrow night,"
Eleanor explained,
pulling a glossy,
gold-embossed invitation from her pocket,
placing it gently on the table.
"The city's elite will be there,
politicians,
judges,
and rival syndicate bosses,
all hiding behind expensive masks and tailored suits."
She looked around the table,
her gaze meeting each of ours,
ensuring we understood the magnitude of her terrifying plan.
"He will have to lower his security protocols to accommodate the guests,
he cannot risk searching high-ranking officials at the door without offending them."
"So we send men in disguised as guests?"
I asked,
trying to keep up with her tactical genius,
my mind spinning with the dangerous possibilities.
"No,"
Eleanor corrected softly,
a chilling,
empty smile touching her lips,
"You do not send men,
Kaelen,
because Donatello's guards will recognize every enforcer on your payroll."
She placed her hands on the table,
leaning forward slightly,
the air in the room dropping to a freezing temperature.
"You send me,"
she declared,
her voice ringing with absolute,
unshakable confidence.
"I will enter the gala as a high-society guest,
I will bypass his security,
I will infiltrate his private vault,
and I will systematically dismantle his entire operation before he even realizes he is under attack."
Asher slammed his hand on the table,
shaking his head rapidly,
refusing to accept her suicidal proposal.
"It is a death trap,"
Asher argued,
his gray eyes blazing with unexpected concern,
"If they catch you,
if they realize who you are,
they will torture you for days."
Eleanor looked at Asher,
her expression softening for just a fraction of a second,
before the cold,
deadly mask of the assassin slipped perfectly back into place.
"They cannot catch a ghost,
Asher,"
she whispered,
turning back to my father,
"Give me the clearance,
Julian,
and I will bring you Donatello Romano's empire on a silver platter."
Julian stared at her for a long,
silent moment,
weighing the risks,
calculating the odds,
and finally,
May you like
he gave a slow,
terrifying nod of approval.
