Chapter 8 - THE EVICTION OF THE BULLY

Within forty-eight hours,
the court orders were executed across Chicago.
The grand mansion on Lake Shore Drive was seized, cleared out, and rebranded as part of the Crawford philanthropic housing initiative.
Richard Sterling was forced out of his luxury lifestyle overnight,
with no luxury cars, no private club memberships, and no offshore accounts.
Reports surfaced later that week of a disheveled man seen wandering around the windy marble lobby of the Grand Belmont,
carrying a single cheap plastic shopping bag containing his remaining clothes.
He tried to approach the front desk,
asking for a room,
but the hotel manager—the very same man who had evicted me days earlier—recognized him immediately.
Mr. Sterling,
the manager said coldly,
his voice echoing across the lobby,
you are permanently blacklisted from all Crawford properties,
please step outside before security escorts you.
Richard stood there,
staring at the glittering chandelier under which he had humiliated me,
realizing the absolute irony of his fate.
May you like
He had tried to render me homeless and invisible,
and the universe had simply returned the favor, magnified a thousandfold.
