Chapter 14 - The Fall of Moretti and the Cleansing of the Chicago Docks

With the blood of Moretti's assassins still staining our floors, Adrien and I launched a devastating, preemptive counter-strike against the syndicate's headquarters.

We bypassed the local authorities entirely, leading a heavily armed convoy of elite enforcers straight to Moretti's clandestine warehouse on the Chicago docks.

The sprawling industrial complex was shrouded in thick river fog, its rusted corrugated metal walls illuminated by harsh overhead security floodlights.

Our enforcers moved with absolute tactical precision, breaching the main steel loading doors with calculated explosive charges that shattered the silence.

Gunfire erupted instantly from the catwalks above, but our team dominated the firefight, systematically eliminating Moretti's guards one by one.

Adrien and I pushed deeper into the facility, our boots splashing through puddles of oily water as we hunted down the Italian don himself.

We kicked open the heavy oak doors of the syndicate's primary office, finding Giancarlo Moretti packing documents into a burning iron fireplace.

He spun around in sheer shock, his hand scrambling for the golden revolver resting on his desk as he realized his escape had been cut off.

I raised my sidearm with an ice-cold stare, squeezing off a single warning shot that splintered the edge of the wooden desk right beside his hand.

Moretti froze instantly, his face draining of all color as he looked down at the smoking hole and then up into my unrelenting eyes.

Adrien stepped forward, towering over the cornered don and demanding to know the names of any remaining corrupt officials in the city government.

Trembling with fear and humiliation, Moretti reached into his breast pocket and handed over a black flash drive containing every single financial ledger.

He begged for his life, offering to cede all his European shipping routes and property portfolios if we simply allowed him to catch a flight home.

Adrien looked down at him with utter disgust, stating coldly that men who wage war on our territory never leave alive to tell the tale.

Before Moretti could reach for his weapon again, Adrien's enforcers swarmed the room, placing heavy steel cuffs on the broken syndicate leader.

As they dragged Moretti out into the foggy night air toward our waiting transport, the last foreign threat to our empire was completely extinguished.

I walked out beside Adrien, watching the heavy industrial gates of the warehouse close permanently on the remnants of Moretti's shattered syndicate.

The docks of Chicago were finally cleansed of foreign parasites, returning absolute control of the city's underground economy back into our hands.

I leaned my head against Adrien's strong shoulder as our SUV rolled out of the shipping yard, feeling a profound sense of ultimate triumph wash over me.

We had survived betrayal, global cartels, and relentless assassination attempts, proving that our alliance was unbreakable and truly sovereign.
