Chapter 14 - Margaret's Final, Pathetic Illusion

The incredibly heavy,

massively terrifying rain aggressively,

violently pounded against the highly cracked,

dirty windshield of the incredibly cheap,

smelling taxi cab.

Margaret Hale sat rigidly,

incredibly stiffly in the deeply stained,

highly uncomfortable backseat,

clutching her heavily worn,

previously expensive designer handbag incredibly tightly,

desperately against her wildly beating,

highly terrified chest.

She was currently wearing her absolute,

very last deeply expensive,

highly tailored outfit,

a slightly faded,

highly recognizable blue silk dress that entirely,

sadly smelled faintly of highly cheap,

discount mothballs and deeply,

incredibly desperate decay.

She had completely,

entirely abandoned her highly broke,

deeply depressed son in his highly disgusting,

terrifying apartment exactly three days ago,

foolishly,

arrogantly believing she could easily,

quickly manipulate her way back into high,

prestigious society.

She was currently,

desperately on her way to aggressively,

boldly visit her highly distant,

incredibly wealthy cousin,

Eleanor,

who proudly,

arrogantly owned a massive,

highly sprawling estate in the incredibly exclusive,

highly gated northern suburbs.

Margaret incredibly,

foolishly believed that Eleanor,

despite their highly strained,

incredibly toxic twenty year rivalry,

would naturally,

obviously welcome her warmly,

generously into her massive,

beautiful home,

foolishly expecting absolute,

unquestioning family loyalty.

The incredibly cheap,

smelling taxi slowly,

loudly pulled up to the massive,

highly intimidating wrought iron security gates of Eleanor’s incredibly beautiful,

highly sprawling mansion,

the incredibly loud,

squeaking brakes violently,

harshly interrupting the deeply peaceful,

quiet sound of the highly heavy rain.

"That will be exactly forty five dollars and fifty cents,

lady,

and I absolutely,

entirely do not accept any incredibly annoying,

highly fake personal checks,"

the incredibly rude,

deeply impatient driver demanded aggressively,

turning around rapidly,

angrily in his highly worn,

cheap seat.

Margaret haughtily,

arrogantly opened her deeply worn,

highly recognized designer handbag,

her heavily trembling,

highly manicured hands aggressively,

frantically searching for the absolute,

very last fifty dollar bill she secretly,

desperately possessed in the entire,

massive world.

She quickly,

proudly handed it directly,

arrogantly to the highly annoyed,

rude driver,

completely,

entirely refusing to even look at him as she aggressively,

rapidly stepped out into the highly cold,

incredibly freezing,

pouring rain.

She walked highly confidently,

incredibly proudly up the long,

massively sweeping stone driveway,

her incredibly expensive,

highly impractical high heels violently,

loudly clicking against the highly wet,

slick pavement.

She aggressively,

boldly pressed the highly polished,

bright brass intercom button located firmly,

securely next to the massive,

incredibly heavy oak front door,

forcing a highly warm,

deeply fake,

charming smile onto her highly wet,

freezing face.

"Yes,

who exactly is currently,

annoyingly ringing at this highly inappropriate,

incredibly late hour?"

a deeply sharp,

highly recognizable,

arrogant voice echoed loudly,

harshly through the highly crackling,

cheap intercom speaker.

"Eleanor,

my highly dear,

incredibly sweet cousin,

it is Margaret,

I am currently,

desperately standing directly outside in this incredibly awful,

highly freezing rain,"

Margaret practically sang,

her voice incredibly,

desperately dripping with highly fake,

deeply sickening sweetness.

There was a deeply long,

incredibly agonizing,

highly terrifying pause on the highly crackling,

cheap electronic line,

the highly heavy,

freezing rain aggressively,

violently soaking through Margaret’s incredibly thin,

previously expensive silk dress.

"Margaret Hale,

you incredibly foolish,

highly delusional woman,

what exactly,

possibly makes you deeply,

arrogantly think you are currently,

actually welcome at my highly private,

incredibly secure home?"

Eleanor’s incredibly cold,

highly ruthless voice finally,

violently snapped back through the highly crackling,

cheap speaker,

completely,

entirely devoid of any highly expected,

warm family affection.

"Eleanor,

please,

I have absolutely,

entirely nowhere else to safely,

warmly go,

there has been a highly massive,

incredibly terrible misunderstanding with my highly crazy,

incredibly vicious daughter in law,"

Margaret pleaded desperately,

her highly fake,

deeply proud facade completely,

entirely crumbling into absolute,

pure panic.

"I absolutely,

entirely read the highly detailed,

incredibly embarrassing society blogs,

Margaret,

everyone in the entire,

massive city completely,

entirely knows exactly what your highly violent,

incredibly abusive son did,"

Eleanor stated highly coldly,

her incredibly sharp,

ruthless tone hitting Margaret like a highly massive,

incredibly heavy physical blow.

"Emily Hale is currently,

undeniably the most incredibly powerful,

highly wealthy woman in this entire,

massive state,

and I am absolutely,

entirely not going to deeply,

foolishly risk angering her highly massive,

unstoppable empire just to temporarily,

pathetically shelter a deeply bankrupt,

highly toxic social pariah."

"You are my incredibly own,

highly direct blood relative,

Eleanor,

you absolutely,

entirely cannot just highly,

cruelly leave me out here to completely,

miserably freeze in the highly violent,

heavy rain!"

Margaret screamed highly hysterically,

hot,

desperate tears aggressively,

violently mixing with the highly cold,

freezing raindrops running heavily,

miserably down her completely ruined,

highly pale face.

"Watch me completely,

entirely ignore you,

Margaret,

and if you absolutely,

stubbornly refuse to immediately,

rapidly leave my highly private,

incredibly expensive property,

I will happily,

joyfully call the highly armed,

aggressive security patrol to violently,

forcibly remove you,"

Eleanor threatened highly calmly,

incredibly ruthlessly,

before loudly,

violently cutting the highly crackling,

cheap intercom connection completely,

entirely dead.

Margaret stood completely,

entirely frozen on the incredibly cold,

highly wet stone steps,

the incredibly massive,

highly beautiful oak door remaining entirely,

stubbornly locked tight against her absolute,

total desperation.

She had incredibly,

foolishly spent her entire,

massive life aggressively,

cruelly judging people completely,

entirely based on their highly superficial,

deeply fake wealth and incredibly empty,

hollow social status.

Now,

she incredibly,

terrifyingly realized that without Daniel’s completely fake,

highly heavily subsidized money,

she was absolutely,

entirely nothing but an incredibly pathetic,

highly desperate old woman crying miserably,

alone in the highly cold,

unforgiving dark.

She slowly,

miserably turned around,

her incredibly expensive,

highly impractical high heels heavily,

sadly dragging on the highly wet,

slick stone,

walking incredibly slowly,

aimlessly back out into the highly cold,

violent,

May you like

and incredibly dark,

lonely night.
